‘The Way Home’ Review

thewayhomeTime travel, while fun to contemplate at, can turn up to cause a lot of trouble if actually put in practice. This is exactly what happened to Will and his sidekick Dex, in the iOS game The Way Home. The story allows players to jump in the shoes of Will, an accidental time traveler, and discover some problems in time which he needs to fix, all in an arcade-style gameplay. The Way Home features 32 levels, more appropriately called episodes, that are spread over 6 moments in time. Some of these moments include being Einstein, a jet pilot or Samuel Morse. In the game, the player moves continuosly horizontally and he can change the vertical lane he\'s running on. All these movements must be done in such a manner to avoid walls, pickup special items and activate some sleeping people, which are all part of the story. Throughout episodes in The Way Home, people encountered are asleep at the beginning of each level and they slowly wake up as you pick up the right items. The items you pick up also increase the score multiplier, which can result in a lot of scoring variations. Moving forward, Game Center is included and comes with various achievements that can be unlocked as well as a leaderboard. Players who have tuned their wall-dodging reflexes can look for new challenges by unlocking the hardcore levels though in-app purchases. There are two powerups to be used, one for slowing down the player and the other to switch the direction. Using them is not required at the beginning of the game, but may be more helpful as you progress through the episodes. Overall the game is a lot of fun to play and will keep you busy for a while, however, a little tricky to get the hang of at first. Interested? The Way Home is available on the App Store for free by clicking here, however, there are optional in-app purchases.
