Nival Announces 3D Strategy Game ‘Etherlords’, Coming to the App Store Next Month

etherComing September 4th to the App Store, veteran strategy developer Nival will launch their 3D iOS title, Etherlords, onto the App Store. Etherlords is a 3D strategy game played in an isometric perspective and features a unique "world-building" gameplay mechanic inspired by Carcassonne. In the game, players spend their resources to build tiles, which become living earth (also known as terrain). As players make new land, Ether is generated and which results in different creatures that players can collect as they play. For those that like an extra challenge, Etherlords also includes a hefty multiplayer component with asynchronous player-versus-player. From what we were told, there are more than 180 creatures in total -- ranging from wolves and dragons, all the way to witchdoctors, scorpion kings, and a couple more. To get a better picture of the game, be sure to check out a gallery of screenshots here as well as a trailer below. Also, for some back story on the game, here is a quick note from the developers to give you an extra insight into Etherlords:

A massive Cataclysm has destroyed the world as we know it—shattering mountains and streams into countless pieces. The player is an Etherlord—a powerful being who has the ability to create worlds, but who has no memory of the Cataclysm. When a strange new world is discovered—one that was recently rebuilt and somehow shattered again—the Etherlord must determine why this is happening. In the process, the player ends up learning the truth about the Cataclysm—and the dark secrets behind it. All players are Etherlords—battling each other for domination over multiple worlds (PvP).

Last but certainly not least, Etherlords is will be completely free-to-play and from our understanding, there will be no in-app purchases. In the mean time, we\'ll be sure to keep you updated as time progresses.
