Apple to use new reservation pass system to shorten the lines outside Apple Stores

jeudi 11 septembre 2014

In order to keep a more accurate count of iPhones available at specific stores on launch day, Apple is turning to a more advanced technological system. In the past, Apple Stores relied on paper cards that were handed out to those on line. Once the cards were completely gone, so were the phones at each store. Now, Apple Store employees are being trained to use a new "Reservation Pass" system. Those waiting in line for an iPhone will receive a message via SMS or email. The message will contain a time that the person is to return to the Apple Store to complete his purchase of the iPhone.

By doing things this way, Apple can keep a more accurate count of handsets that they have left to sell. This way, no one is disappointed, and each Store gets to maximize sales by selling all of the units they have. The "Reservation Pass" ties into each store's computer system. The new process should debut on September 19th, the date that Apple launches the Apple iPhone 6 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus.

With the "Reservation Pass," those waiting on line for an iPhone can leave once they receive their reservation time. And that means things should go a lot smoother starting a week from tomorrow, when the lines start building in front of Apple Stores in the U.S. and in some overseas countries.
