When HTC announced that it was holding a "Double Exposure" event on October 8th, the first thought was that the manufacturer was going to introduce a new "selfie" phone, joining others like Microsoft and Sony that have introduced so-called "selfie models." Back in July, there was a rumor that the HTC Eye would be unveiled as a "selfie" phone. Such handsets usually have a 5MP front-facing shooter, something that is already available from some HTC models including the HTC One (M8).
But as it turns out, HTC might not have a phone in mind for its announcement after all. According to a report published on Friday, the manufacturer is planning a GoPro style action camera with a tube design. There will be a 16MP lens, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. That would suggest that the camera will sync with certain HTC smartphones.
Earlier this week, HTC said that it is interested in producing an Android Wear smartwatch despite previously rejecting the idea. We also heard a rumor that Amazon had made a bid directly to HTC co-founder Cher Wang about purchasing the company. Oh yeah, it also turned out that AT&T decided it wanted an exclusive on the Amazon Fire Phone, which cost HTC the opportunity to produce a low-end model for Amazon. Just a typical quiet week at HTC.
