Samsung announced two brand new Galaxy Notes at IFA 2014: the Note 4, and the Note Edge. While the Note 4 is the successor to last year’s Note 3, the Note Edge is a unique handset that features a never-seen-before curved display that wraps around one of its edges. Both devices will be available to buy later this year, with the Note 4 being the first to hit shelves (starting the first half of October).
According to a report from earlier this month, South Korean analysts don’t seem to believe that the Note 4 will be more successful than the Note 3. Yonhap News quotes an analyst from Hyundai Securities who said that Samsung is expected to ship around 11 million Note 4 units by the end of the year - about the same amount of Note 3 units shipped in 2013.
The Hyundai Securities analyst also said that Samsung will ship only 1 million Galaxy Note Edge units this year, because the handset’s “manufacturing process is expected to be complicated.” Another analyst (from Dongbu Securities) added that users might find it difficult to adapt to the Note Edge and its unusual display. We ourselves aren’t sure if the wrap-around screen is innovative, or just a gimmick.

What do you think, are the numbers presented above realistic, or can Samsung ship more new Galaxy Notes before the end of 2014?
