Xiaomi executive: We've sold one million phones in India since July

jeudi 25 décembre 2014

Xiaomi's Manu Jain, head of the upstart phone manufacturer's Indian operations, sent out a tweet this morning with the claim that the company has sold one million phones in India. The tweet included pictures of the three models that have been sold in the country which are the Xiaomi Mi3, the Xiaomi Redmi Note and the Xiaomi Redmi 1S.

It was back in July when the Xiaomi Mi3 was launched in India via Flipkart. Priced at the equivalent of $233 USD, the device quickly sold out using the flash sales technique that has helped the company become successful.

However, Xiaomi's momentum in India has come to a screeching halt due to a patent infringement case in Indian court. Swedish tech giant Ericsson has charged Xiaomi with violating its patents on 3G, EDGE and other technologies. The Delhi High Court is allowing Xiaomi to sell only Snapdragon powered phones through January 8th. After that, there will be a complete ban on the sale of the manufacturer's handsets until early February. That is when the court will reach a final decision on Ericsson's claims.
