Why spend $450 for a fitness tracker/healthwatch? Withings has introduced the Activite Pop, a $150 version of its higher priced top-shelf Activite model. No, there is no digital screen. Instead, you use the companion app to set goals, and the smaller dial on the timepiece tells you what percentage of your target has been achieved.
The Activite Pop will monitor your sleep, and you can be roused in the morning with a silent (read vibration) alarm. Using a run-of-the-mill watch battery, you can expect to go as long as eight months before changing the cell. The watch is water resistant to 98.4 feet.
While the timepiece won't be widely available until March, limited quantities of the watch are expected to be offered starting tomorrow, on Best Buy's website. If $450 for the full featured Activite watch is too rich for your blood, you can save $300 by taking the Pop instead. Withings was able to slice the price by using materials like silicone for the strap and a PVD coating for the watchcase.
