Wireless Advocates is a company that works with retail partners to allow them to offer free smartphones as a promotion. Take this new partnership that the company has with Burger King. The latter is promoting its Android app and at the same time, if you go to BK.com/Android, you will find a number of subsidized handset offerings.
If you are on Verizon, a 16GB Samsung Galaxy S4 is free with a two-year contract as is the HTC One Remix (mini 2), LG G3, LG G2, Samsung Galaxy S4 mini, Kyocera Brigadier, LG G Vista, Motorola Droid Ultra and the LG Lucid 3. Sprint customers can pick up the HTC One (E8) for free with a signed two-year contract, or go with the LG G3, 16GB Samsung Galaxy S4, LG G2, Kyocera Torque, Kyocera Hydro and the Sharp Aquos Crystal.
You'll notice that these aren't the latest or greatest models available from your carrier. But these offers are aimed at the person who sees the Samsung Galaxy S4 and doesn't realize that not only has there been a Samsung Galaxy S5, but that we are close to seeing the Samsung Galaxy S6 unveiled. In other words, if you are reading this story, you don't fit into the demographic that they are looking for, which is a group we will call smartphone unaware.
Thanks for the tip, Gilbert!
