LG expected to sell a record-breaking amount of smartphones throughout 2014

mardi 5 août 2014

Although it got surpassed by Xiaomi in terms of global shipments during the previous quarter, a number of industry experts from distant South Korea claim that LG is still going to sell a record number of devices by the end of the year. The latest financial report of the Far East giant demonstrates that this might turn out to be the case indeed – LG scored its best financial results in several financial periods and sold roughly 14.5 million devices.

Well, the latest expert forecasts suggest that the maker of the prolific LG G3 could succeed in selling some 60 million units by the end of the year. This impressive number got proposed by Kiwoom Securities, while another analytics agency, Daewoo Securities, goes even further and claims that LG's total shipment tally will reach 62 million devices. As a side comparison, LG sold roughly 47.6 million devices back in 2013.

"There is no innovation in handsets. Apple is set to unveil two larger-screen smartphones soon. LG should be quick to appeal to existing and new customers before the debuts of new Apple phone(s)," an LG official revealed.

According to both insider agencies, the LG G3 will be the main driver of this upward spike. LG already confirmed that even more iterations of the flagship device will arrive on the market (the LG G3 Stylus most probably among them). Apart from expanding the portfolio, the giant will also procure a number of marketing campaigns that will further promote the LG G3 in certain regional markets, with the emphasis being put on the US one. The Chinese market is most probably high in LG's list, too.
