BMW to buy 57,000 Windows Phones for its workers?

jeudi 4 décembre 2014

German luxury automobile manufacturer BMW has reportedly ordered quite a large number of Lumia branded Windows Phone handsets. A report out of Germany states that the company is purchasing 57,000 handsets for its employees. The company currently has its workforce using older Nokia smartphones powered by Symbian.

The majority of the phones to be delivered to BMW will be the Nokia Lumia 630, although executives will get to choose between the more expensive Nokia Lumia 920 or Nokia Lumia 930. The new handsets are expected to be in use by BMW employees sometime next year.

The report allegedly comes from someone close to the company, but does not reveal any dollar amount connected to the purchase. It also seems that while the purchase order for the Lumia handsets is a public shot in the arm for the still struggling platform, it doesn't necessarily mean that the automaker plans on using Windows Phone inside a new line of BMW autos.
