Weekly Round Up: December 7th – December 14th

Whoops! I went and spaced the round up this week, I was a little too social on the weekend and completely forgot about it. This one will just be a bit longer than normal and the next will definitely be shorter, awesome! This week we reviewed an awesome new third party iOS keyboard that could take the record for worlds fasted touchscreen keyboard, we also talked about the SteelSeries Stratus XL controller coming to Apple Retail stores near you and a bunch more awesome game news and updates that happened this week.

Monday, December 8th

Nintype: The One Keyboard to Rule Them All Nintype: The One Keyboard to Rule Them AllOne keyboard to rule them all, One keyboard to find them, One keyboard to bring them all and in the darkness bind them… Nintype is an incredibly revolutionary new keyboard from long time iOS developer Jormy that helps you speed through texts at over 100 words per minute! It was just released a few days ago on the App Store for $4.99 and it is most definitely worth the price. Don’t let the overwhelming amount of customization or crazy awesome animations deter you, it can be dumbed down to look almost exactly like the iOS keyboard but with all the amazing features still there hidden beneath the surface. As someone who has never been able to fully grasp the use case of swipe keyboards mainly because of a few jailbreak tweaks like SwipeSelection and SwipeExpander, I have fallen in love with Nintype.

Weekly Round Up: December 1st – December 6th

Welcome to the weekly round up post, where we reviewed AppHeads by sharedRoutine which lets you switch between your apps like switching between Facebook\'s ChatHeads system. From there, we also covered the unexpected release of the iOS 8.1.1 jailbreak from TaiG, another Chinese jailbreak team. We also shared with you a Casual Connect videos from the event last month. Like always though, a few great iOS games have also been updated with new content that you should check out.

Monday, December 1st

AppHeads: A New Perspective on iOS Multitasking, and a Short Interview with the Developer Round UP app heads AppHeads is a new Cydia tweak by sharedRoutine that enjoyed a decent amount of hype in the jailbreak community. The original teaser post from 3 months ago had almost two hundred upvotes and a little over fifty comments with everyone wondering when they could get their hands on it. The post was this little teaser image in his alpha stage and people ate it up like the next best thing since sliced bread. A little while went by with no updates on it and then just under two weeks ago this post on Reddit popped up and teased it again with a video. It saw over two hundred upvotes and nearly one hundred comments with the same feeling from Redditors, they were basically frothing at the mouth and screaming, “TAKE MY MONEY!!”. It’s now on the BigBoss repo for $4.99 and worth every cent. iOS 8.1.1 Jailbroken by Pangu’s Rival “TaiG”, Best to Hold Off for Now [Updated] TaiG (pronounced “Tai-G”) is a Chinese hacker team/App Store that had a hand in the iOS 7 jailbreak by the Evad3rs team which caused some controversy in the community back in December of last year. Supposedly, they offered the Evad3rs a hefty sum of cash to include their App Store with the iOS 7 jailbreak. This was the cause of the controversy as TaiG has been closely linked to piracy in China. It seems as though the team is attempting to redeem itself in a way by releasing a public jailbreak for iOS 8.1.1, even though it’s at a very weird time. The jailbreak uses three exploits to attain root access for installing Cydia, one of which is the same one Pangu learned from i0nic’s exploit training classes, which Apple apparently hasn’t fixed properly. We will update you with more information when it we get it though. As with all jailbreaks when they first drop, it’s a good idea to stay away from this one for a few days to make sure respected members of the community can thoroughly check it to make sure it’s safe for public use. If you want to throw caution to the wind and try it for yourself just go to their site or download it directly from Mega here.

DeNA and Hasbro Release the Official iOS Game for ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’

transformers_iosJust like we reported on last month, two well-known App Store publishers by the name of DeNA and Hasbro have recently announced that Transformers: Age of Extinction - The Official Mobile Game for the new Transformer movie is now available to download exclusively for the iPhone and iPad. Based on Hasbro\'s iconic brand and the Paramount Pictures film directed by Michael Bay appearing in theaters later this month, the game features stunning graphics and intuitive gameplay that immerses players in the Transformers universe as they help the Autobots defeat their Decepticons. Furthermore, players can race down the street in robot mode or drive at high speed in vehicle mode and customize their team with different weapons and tech upgrades. From the look of the trailer, Transformers: Age of Extinction for iOS appears to be some sort of an on-rails shooting game mixed with Temple Run in terms of how you travel on a set path. That aside though, DeNA has a fairly decent track record when it comes to their mobile games, so we\'re hoping that this one won\'t let us down.

“Transformers: Age of Extinction - The Official Mobile Game is a fantastic game not just for people who enjoy action-packed mobile games but also for Transformers fans everywhere,” said Mark Blecher, senior vice president digital gaming & corporate development at Hasbro, Inc. “Defeating your enemies with Grimlock is a defining moment for any true Transformers fan.”

“DeNA is known for bringing truly unique and immersive experiences to mobile, and Transformers: Age of Extinction - The Official Mobile Game is no exception,” said Barry Dorf, vice president of partnerships and alliances at DeNA.

Interested? Transformers: Age of Extinction - The Official Mobile Game can be downloaded on the App Store for free by clicking here, however, there are optional in-app purchases.

DeNA and Hasbro Reveal ‘Transformers: Age of Extinction’ for iOS

transformeriOSDeNA and Hasbro have recently announced that Transformers: Age of Extinction, the official mobile game to accompany the movie coming late next month, is currently in development for iOS devices. Transformers: Age of Extinction the mobile game is the second installment in a three-year agreement between the two companies to develop and publish games based on the Transformers franchise. This new free-to-play game marks the first time that DeNA has developed a movie licensed game for iOS or any other mobile platform. We are told that the game is a 3D combat runner (think of Temple Run) where the mission is to take down enemies featured in the movie as players run and change forms through fast-paced levels. Probably the best way to describe the game is think of an on-rails shooter crossed with Temple Run, then re-skinned as Transformers and add in elements from the franchise to the game. Granted we could be completely wrong or kind of right, but going off the information and screenshots that were provided, that\'s our most educated guess. Because runner games like Temple Run are a dime a dozen, we can only hope that Transformers: Age of Extinction offers something new to the genre.

"The Transformers: Age of Extinction mobile game will deliver an explosive interactive entertainment experience on mobile devices for Transformers fans and consumers looking to extend their movie experience after the credits roll,” said Barry Dorf, vice president of partnerships and alliances at DeNA. “This isn’t your typical runner game; this game puts the player in the middle of an action-packed Hollywood blockbuster where it’s destroy or be destroyed!”

Optimus

"DeNA is creating a fresh and innovative gameplay experience with Transformers: Age of Extinction that translates big screen action moments onto mobile devices,” said Mark Blecher, SVP Digital Gaming & Corporate Development at Hasbro, Inc.

As of now there\'s no official release date for Transformers: Age of Extinction, however, we were told that the game should land sometime later this year. If anything, it\'s safe to say DeNDA and Hasbro will launch their latest Transformer for iOS title sometime next month to accompany the movie\'s release.
