‘Dungeon Battles’ Launches in Europe with Metal Support
Digital Dinosaur Games has recently announced the release of Dungeon Battles: Heroes of the Throne in Europe, now allowing European and Russian players to join North America, Latin America and Australia in the action. Dungeon Battles takes combat to a new level with features like fully-controllable battles, powerful heroes and 3D graphics using Apple\'s Metal engine. In the Dungeon Battles: Heroes of the Throne, players control powerful heroes and minion armies. Players can also experience high-quality 3D graphics, build a formidable dungeon, fend off invaders, battle other players online and form alliances. As of now there\'s no official word on when the game will land on the United States App Store, however, we\'ll keep a close eye on any further developments. It appears as if Dungeon Battles is being slowly rolled out to various countries so the developers can slowly gather feedback and stress-test their servers. That being said, if you live in any of the countries that it is available to download, we highly recommend you give the game a go. Features:
For those who reside in countries where Dungeon Battles is available to download, you can click here to get the game.

Apple Increases App Size Limit From 2GB to 4GB

Apple Increases App Size Limit From 2GB to 4GB
Apple announced Thursday afternoon that it has increased its app package size limit to 4GB when submitting applications through iTunes connect. That\'s double the previous size limit of 2GB, which has been the same since the App Store was originally introduced in 2008. App developers and game-makers should be happier, as they struggle to make games under 2GB with the multitude of screen sizes and resolutions.
Although Apple may be increasing app size limits, they are still enforcing the 100 megabyte cellular download limit.
The size limit of an app package submitted through iTunes Connect has increased from 2 GB to 4 GB, so you can include more media in your submission and provide a more complete, rich user experience upon installation. Please keep in mind that this change does not affect the cellular network delivery size limit of 100 MB.
Although Apple may be increasing app size limits, they are still enforcing the 100 megabyte cellular download limit.

Apple Enables Two-Step Verification for iMessage and FaceTime
Apple Enables Two-Step Verification for iMessage and FaceTime
Last fall, iCloud went through a major nude celebrity leak. Apple CEO Tim Cook noted that the company will be doubling down on security, something Apple is known for doing. The Guardian reported on Thursday that Apple will be enabling two-step verification for iMessage and FaceTime. For those unfamiliar with the concept, two-step verification adds an extra layer of protection for various website, including Apple. It requires users to input authentication codes when logging into iCloud on new devices, the web, and now iMessage and FaceTime. The company first enabled two-step verification for Apple ID\'s back in 2013. But this ultimately failed with iCloud logins. We highly recommend everybody enable two-step verification on all of their services.

Apple Outtsells Android for the First Time Since 2012

Apple Outtsells Android for the First Time Since 2012
Wednesday, TechCrunch relayed a survey put out by market researcher Kantar Worldpanel which showed a small victory for Apple as they overtook Android during the last three months of 2014 in terms of units sold. Awaken by the introduction of iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple withheld a 47.7% share of the US smartphone market. Android took a 47.6% share, and Windows Phone had a measly 3.8% share. Kantar chief of research Carolina Milanesi noted it’s “the slimmest 0.1% margin” he’s ever seen. Not only is Apple’s success the result of the iPhone 6 mania, but also due to “the strongest product portfolio” in Apple’s history. Apple\'s growth was noted during Apple\'s earnings call in Q1 2015 by Apple CEO Tim Cook. The company sold a record breaking 74.5 million iPhone units during the holiday quarter, a 46% growth. The largest profitable quarter in any companies history.
Although the iPhone is the largest selling smartphone in the US, followed by Samsung\'s Galaxy S5, Google is still going strong in Europe, regardless of the 3.8% drop from their overall 66.1% share this last quarter.

Com2uS Debuts Teaser Video for ‘Summoners War’
Leading mobile game company, Com2uS, has recently debuted a brand new "Summoners War: Party Crasher" teaser trailer as the second component of the resurgence of their breakout title Summoners War. The 30-second teaser features popular Vine personality Landon Moss whom Com2uS hired based on his strong following on the social media platform, and their focus on capturing a new, trendy and culturally-inclined consumer. In the trailer, popular Summoners War character "Golem" is brought into reality, mirroring the key themes and objectives of the game. The teaser precedes the second "Summoners War: Fried Petunias" teaser featuring acclaimed Vine personality Cody Johns which is set to release soon. We were also informed that both teasers are in anticipation of an upcoming Summoners War commercial spot that will showcase different aspects of the game. The Summoners War: Party Crasher teaser follows the recent unveiling of a 2,000 square foot Summoners War mural in the Downtown Los Angeles Arts District painted by renowned Australian street artist Meggs in coordination with Com2uS. The mural, located at 568 South Sante Fe Avenue, depicts three well-known Summoners War characters -- "Arch Angel", "Dragon" and "Angelmon." In addition to the mural, Com2uS also released a behind-the-scenes time lapse video. Last but certainly not least, Com2uS also plans on releasing more in-depth updates for Summoners War sometime next month. Those interested in trying out the game can download it for free on the App Store by clicking here, however, there are in-app purchases.

A New Way to Chat With ‘Dasher’

A New Way to Chat With ‘Dasher’
Actions become habit and when it comes to messaging back and forth with our friends, we’ve established some seemingly irreversible habits. I’m guilty of it too, so I can’t point and shake my finger at you. Until recently, I’ve had no reason to explore any other options available out there. Why would I though? iMessage is so easy and recognizable for almost all of us. The thought of changing any past practices makes me sigh. Well, I’ve broken free from status quo and ventured out to try something new and it’s called Dasher Messenger . My conversations are better than ever with this fun messenger app. The best way to describe Dasher is by comparing it to your news feed on Facebook. As your friends find things to share, it shows up on your news feed. Dasher feels a lot like that but it’s in message
form. You can start a group chat with a bunch of friends and have quite an interesting exchange since Dasher uses “smart links” to share content. Instead of a simple hyperlink link to a video, picture, or news article, Dasher provides a preview of the content but it’s still clickable. For the most part, when you click on shared media, you stay in Dasher so there’s no need to worry about finding your way back into the app. Seems like such a petty thing to complain about, but it’s just more convenient and it makes it easier to keep conversations flowing. If you have friends like mine, you probably enjoy quite a few funny GIFs which show up on your Facebook news feed. If you’ve never had the desire to figure out how they share this content, you can easily do it with Dasher. Simply place a hashtag in the text box followed by a word and they’ll find one for you. If you don’t like what they’ve selected simply hit refresh and a new one is displayed. Keep refreshing till you find what fits your description or conversation. It’s a great way to add humor and action to the conversation.

Developer Spotlight: Yose “Jormy” Widjaja, Developer of The Revolutionary Keyboard ‘Nintype’ [Interview]

Developer Spotlight: Yose “Jormy” Widjaja, Developer of The Revolutionary Keyboard ‘Nintype’ [Interview]
From a very young age, Yose had a foot in the door with computers and programing. He was learning BASIC in an upscale Indonesian primary school, playing around with DOS when he was around six years old and getting addicted to Starcraft map editors circa 2000. You could say that he was a computer guy from the start. After dropping the Starcraft maps and learning some Flash and Actionscript he dropped out of his PhD and started his journey to Jormy Appstudio. Nintype is short for ninja-type and was uploaded as "nin" for a test when it was still in Cydia and it sort of stuck. After developing it for nearly two years and going through many evolutions and permutations, Nintype leapt over quite a few hurdles here and there to be what it is today. Check out the interview for more information and a great story about it\'s development. To see the full interview, be sure

Weekly Round Up: December 7th – December 14th
Whoops! I went and spaced the round up this week, I was a little too social on the weekend and completely forgot about it. This one will just be a bit longer than normal and the next will definitely be shorter, awesome! This week we reviewed an awesome new third party iOS keyboard that could take the record for worlds fasted touchscreen keyboard, we also talked about the SteelSeries Stratus XL controller coming to Apple Retail stores near you and a bunch more awesome game news and updates that happened this week.
Nintype: The One Keyboard to Rule Them All
One keyboard to rule them all, One keyboard to find them, One keyboard to bring them all and in the darkness bind them… Nintype is an incredibly revolutionary new keyboard from long time iOS developer Jormy that helps you speed through texts at over 100 words per minute! It was just released a few days ago on the App Store for $4.99 and it is most definitely worth the price. Don’t let the overwhelming amount of customization or crazy awesome animations deter you, it can be dumbed down to look almost exactly like the iOS keyboard but with all the amazing features still there hidden beneath the surface. As someone who has never been able to fully grasp the use case of swipe keyboards mainly because of a few jailbreak tweaks like SwipeSelection and SwipeExpander, I have fallen in love with Nintype.

Weekly Round Up: November 22nd – November 28th
Welcome to the weekly round up post, this week we warn users to go and buy Neato before Apples pulls it for supposedly breaking their blurry guidelines for Notification Center Widgets. PocketFullOfApps has also announced an internship program which will last for two months. The well-known App Store developers, Crescent Moon, have also announced a Humble Mobile Bundle that features some of their most popular games.
Get it quick, Apple warns ‘Neato’ to pull keyboard from Notification Center or Else
Apple has some pretty blury guidelines for what can be in the Notification Center and what can’t. This has already caused a bit of confusion regarding calculators in the NC and the late app-widget Launcher. This has got to be frustrating for developers and users alike. I personally heard about Launcher too late as I was stuck on iOS 7.1.6 due to a jailbreak not being released yet for iOS 8, by the time I got wind it was already gone in the blaze. Phoenix Online Publishing Releases ‘The Last Door: Collector’s Edition’ for iOS Phoenix Online Publishing has recently announced that their #1 bestselling, retro-themed horror adventure The Last Door: Collector’s Edition is available to download for iOS devices. This award-winning tale compiles four episodes of occult and otherworldly terror into one completely set, adding new puzzles, scenes, and more, as well as enhanced graphics and sound. Players can download the first chapter free now, while chapters two to four of the game available for just $2.99 as an in-app purchase.
Activision Releases ‘Duck Commander: Duck Defense’ for iOS! Best known for Call of Duty: Zombies , Activision Publishing has recently released their latest iOS title Duck Commander: Duck Defense — a new tower defense game led by television’s first family of duck hunting, the Robertson’s. In the game creatures of the wild have joined forces to push the Robertson’s, makers of the top-selling Duck Commander brand of duck calls, off their Louisiana Bayou homestead. It’s up to Willie, Si, Phil and Jase to use their tools and a healthy dose of redneck ingenuity to fend off these animal by any means. ‘Worms’ Franchise Celebrating its 19th Birthday with a Huge Sale!
Originally launched on November 17th, 1995, Team17\'s infamous Worms franchise is celebrating its 19th birthday with a huge sale across many platforms including iOS, Mac, and Android. Despite the birthday being almost a week ago, the sale still appears to be continuing on in some places. As of right now we’re unsure how much longer these special discounts will last for, however, it doesn’t hurt to take a look just in case. Most games listed below are on sale for $0.99 with the exception of just a few, so if you have a couple bucks left in your iTunes account, now would be a good time to spend it.
‘Transynd’ Your Music Experience on Your iPhone Everyone has differing preferences for their music needs on their iDevices; some people are heavy audiophiles and have nothing but FLACs in their iTunes, others do nothing but stream with Pandora or Spotify, and then there are people who are about in the middle like me. If you don’t need all of the functionality of the Music app then Transcynd is for you! It’s currently $0.99 on the App Store but the developer, Darran Hall told me that he plans on making it free for the next update after he polishes a few features and squashes a bug or two. He’s a great guy and deserves the money so I suggest you go buy it! ‘ANNO: Build an Empire’ Now Available on the App Store! Ubisoft, who recently released Valiant Hearts: Dogs of War, have also announced that ANNO: Build an Empire, the mobile spin-off from the iconic ANNO series, is now available to download on the App store for iPad and iPhone. Developed by Blue Byte in collaboration with Mi’pu’mi Games, the game offers the full ANNO experience, allowing players to create monumental cities on mobile devices.
Announcing the Humble Crescent Moon Mobile Bundle Seriously, stop everything you’re doing right now and read this. Crescent Moon, developers of numerous hit mobile games, have announced their official Humble Mobile Bundle where gamers can pay any price they want for a huge set of games. While we typically don’t cover Android news, Crescent Moon is by far one of our favorite developers who we’ve written about for years. Here’s the full description from the website:
Announcing the PocketFullOfApps Internship Program
For a some time I’ve thrown around the idea of having an internship program for PocketFullOfApps, but never decided on anything until now. After some careful consideration and talking to the fellow team members, I’m proud to announce the PocketFullOfApps Internship Program where we will bring two interns onto the team for two months. Those interns who we choose will have the opportunity to join a well established tech and gaming blog and reach a monthly audience of over 600,000 page views. This is a perfect opportunity for those who want to get a start in the tech blogging and writing world, but don’t know where to begin. Sticky notes on your Lock Screen with ‘Sticky’ Sticky notes are a part of a lot of people’s lives; used for everything from jotting down tiny notes to managing large scale projects (if you do it right.) They are integrated into Mac OS X and there are several free programs for PC’s that offer the same functionality. Omitted from stock iOS for some reason, I can see why Apple might not want to include them on the iPhone but they surely have a home on the iPad. Sticky in Cydia on the ModMyi repo by William Vabrinskas, will bring you this awesome functionality to your iPhone or iPad for just $0.99. I can’t recommend this tweak enough; it’s lightweight, feature filled and “just works”.

Zak desperately needs your help to correct his mistake and time is of the essence since investors are patiently waiting for the Flyhunters to deliver the rare bug collection the Flyhunter crew has promised. ‘Evolution: Battle for Utopia’ Receiving Major Content Update Next Year Evolution: Battle for Utopia, My.com’s hit sci-fi action RPG, is getting a major content update early next year with “Legacy of Dominion” which will bring new story scenarios, mysterious planets and powerful items to the game. With more than 4 million players duking it out in sci-fi mobile battles, Evolution: Battle for Utopia is continuing to expand the content for one of the largest in-game mobile worlds that was also featured as one of Apple’s “Best New Games” at launch.

Indie Studio In Denmark Revives A Project and Scores A Hit Game [New Game]
How many games do you have on your iPhone or iPad? Do any of them allow you to do any time traveling? Probably not. There’s a new game available in the App Store that allows you to do a bit of time traveling as you attempt to help two characters rebuild their society one step at a time. This visually stunning puzzle solving platform game is called Chronology: Time Changes Everything and it\'s currently featured in the App Store as a "Best New Game". The storyline is captivating and the game is very entertaining, but we almost never got a chance to experience Chronology. In January of 2015, the original developers closed shop and thankfully Osao Games , an indie development studio from Denmark, saw potential in Chronology and continued development on this project. Fast forward to now, you get to enjoy an indie project that just wouldn’t die. After you complete the first level of Chronology, you’ll be glad Osao Games grabbed the torch and kept running with this project.
Does Chronology sound like a game you can’t live without or do you need more supporting evidence before you\'re willing to give up precious storage space on your iOS device? I can respect that, so I did a complete app review on Chronology and you can read it here. So before you head over to the App Store and download this gem, take a look and see how “the Critic” rates this indie studio app from our friends over in Denmark.

‘Keeper Security’ is Saving You Time and Now Securing Your Important Files
If you haven’t noticed already, smartphone users are interacting with numerous mobile applications continuously on a daily basis. Currently app usage accounts for nearly 86 percent of the average U.S. mobile consumers time. With that in mind, more and more applications are requiring passwords to protect your personal information. Entering usernames and passwords is time consuming, which results in some smartphone users repeating the same passwords across numerous accounts. In today\'s age, this is an unsafe practice in protecting the security of your accounts, personal information, and identity. Keeper Security wants you to continue to enjoy your favorite applications, except now with the safety, security, and convenience of a brand new feature called FastFill. Craig Lurey, CTO & Co-Founder of Keeper, states, “Logging in and out of apps was a major pain point for consumers and professionals until now. FastFill solves this problem - it’s easy to use, fast and secure.” Currently FastFill is only available for Android, but iOS users will see FastFill later this year on their iOS devices. So how does fast fill work? To find out, be sure to continue reading...

‘Blowfish Meets Meteor’ Splashes On iPad
Are you searching for a summer block buster? Well, Jeremy “the Critic” may have just found it for you! This story takes place underwater and it’s filled with action and adventure. It doesn’t star Bradley Cooper or Jennifer Lawrence though. Instead, it stars a deep sea diver out to save his daughters that are trapped after a meteor crashes into the ocean. This block buster style game is Blowfish Meets Meteor by Sky Tyrannosaur and it’s packed with hours of fun. Sky Tyrannosaur brings iOS users a different block buster game experience with Blowfish Meets Meteor. It’s jam packed with vivid hand drawn animation, challenging puzzle-solving designs, underwater creatures lending you a hand, and boss battles that give it a console game like feel. Blowfish Meets Meteor now has native iPad Retina Display support in a recent update—which really brings the animation to life. Features:
Blowfish Meets Meteor is $2.99 in the iOS App Store for both iPhone and iPad. Does the price sound a little step for a block buster style game? I know what you’re thinking, “most block buster games get boring after a while.” Jeremy “the Critic” has a full review available on iOSetc.com to help you decide if it’s worth the price. Also on iOS Etc, I discuss some great information on its developers and why you should keep an eye on them in the future.

Your Story Just Got Steller [Review]

Your Story Just Got Steller [Review]
If we eat with our eyes, Steller is an all you can eat photo buffet! This free iOS application turns your camera roll into a storyteller in minutes. Use text, photos, and videos to create a visually pleasing creation everyone can pass around and enjoy. View that night out on the town with friends or your week long family vacation from a whole different perspective. I’ve been using Steller since the middle of February and I knew from the start it had potential to be a phenomenal application. There were a few modifications it needed to make in order to gain some traction though. Before I get into what those were, let me get you up to speed on exactly what Steller allows you to do. Think of all the pictures and videos you have in your camera roll on one of your iOS devices. Whipping out our iPhones to capture tons of photos and videos is extremely easy. With Steller you can finally organize those photos and videos into a truly unique visual story. In order to do this, users choose to display a page with text, photos, or video. Next up, decide between many different layout options. Text can be added over photos or placed into text boxes, but some functions are only available within certain design layouts. Some users design stories that are very text heavy, whereas others like to use a lot of photos with limited text. For my visual stories, additions are made depending on what my photos and/or videos are able to communicate to viewers on their own and additions are made from there. It’s your story though, design it however you want. Putting together a story can be time consuming depending on how much editing your creation requires. Your iPhone is capable of taking great photos, but third party applications are where your photos begin to shine. If you’re not importing some of your pictures into photo editing applications, you really need to start. I don’t just mean Instagram, I’m talking about Camera+, Tadaa SLR, Mextures, etc. You’re able to create some very unique photos by using third party editing applications. Sometimes I like to take a photo I just edited in one application and import it into another to see how it looks when I add features the other editing application doesn’t have. I’d be lying if I said they looked great every time, but sometimes I’m happy with the results. Once you have all the photos you want to use ready, start putting together your visual story. Depending on the amount of text, photos, and videos you add it could take you as little as 10 minutes to create your first story. Most of my creations take about forty-five minutes to an hour to finish, but bear in mind I do a lot of editing to my photos which adds a bit of time.
The many ways Steller is being put to use is really amazing. Food bloggers are able to actively show step-by-step instructions for some of their recipes, which gets me hungry every time. Photographers are using it to showcase some of their work and drive traffic to their website. Travel bloggers are showing how little of the world I’ve seen in some of their amazing stories. During the 2014 Winter Olympics, there were some awesome pictures and stories that weren’t part of the media coverage. These photos were coming from those experiencing everything first hand. You could feel the pride, energy, and excitement in their visual stories. Let me come back to something I mentioned earlier. There were updates Steller needed to make in order to continue its success. Originally, when you signed in with a Facebook or Twitter account, it automatically imported profile photos from that account and made these photos your default profile photos in Steller. This has since changed and users are still able to sign in with their Facebook or Twitter account, but can now upload their own profile photos. Secondly, finding people in Steller was extremely difficult if not impossible. With a recent update, you are now able to find other users very quickly through a search function. Another great addition Steller added was if you connect your Twitter and Facebook accounts, you\'ll receive a notification when anyone you’re connected with also connects their social media accounts. Now you can instantly follow your friends so you don’t miss a thing. Another update was made allowing you to follow other users very easily. At the end of a story, they’ve added a follow button you can quickly select. Sharing your visual stories with others is amazingly easy within Steller. Simply select the share button in the top right hand corner of a story you’ve created or currently viewing and you can share it on Twitter, Facebook, or Pinterest. Need more options? Steller allows you to send stories via email and SMS. These updates have made interacting with Steller a lot easier and now I’m always trying to think of what my next story will be. Steller provides iOS users a way to create something truly unique. How many times have you taken a bunch of pictures or videos on a trip or a night out on the town and flipped through them with friends while trying to describe each one? Well, now you never have to do that again. Turn your photos and videos into a Steller story and just let your iPhone make its way around the room while everyone remarks how amazingly creative you are.
