Apple Pay Coming to Brazil

Apple Pay may only be available in the US, but it doesn\'t mean the company isn\'t planning to bring the mobile payment system around the globe. On Monday, CultOfMac reported that Apple officials are in talks with the Bank of Brazil, Bradesco, and Itaú to support Apple Pay and launch the product at retailers in the nation. The report goes on to say that 80 percent of the nations two biggest POS suppliers have NFC (near field communication), which is a necessary component for the Apple Pay service. Apple Pay\'s rollout in the US hasn\'t been the greatest (considering the majority of the US hasn\'t switched over to NFC based payments), but that didn\'t stop Apple CEO Tim Cook. Recent rumors also say Apple is looking to also bring its service to China. Apple Pay was originally launched in October 2014 and has seen a steady growth in the US market share. In the United States we\'ve been enjoying Apple Pay, I know I am. According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple will be launching Apple Pay internationally to places such as Canada in March. Apple first launched the service in the U.S. and supports various banks and card issuers. According to Apple, the service launched with support for 83% of credit and debit cards in the US. Last month Apple noted that they are now supporting over 90% of banks, credit, and debit card issuers in the US. The report says Apple is working on getting marketing and promotional materials for Marc, which indicates that the service will be available as early as March. Though, only being available since November, Apple Pay now accounts for 1.7% of all mobile payments in the US.

Now that all the hype is slowly dying from Apple\'s announcement earlier today, Cult of Mac\'s very own Buster Hein made an interesting observation. In his most recent article, Hein pointed out that the iPad Mini 3 is almost no different then the iPad Mini 2 except for two things -- Touch ID and the Gold color option. Here\'s a quick tidbit from his observation:

Phil Schiller gushed over all the new iPad Air 2 upgrades during today’s keynote, reveling in its improved camera, powerful A8X chip, anti-reflective coating and Touch ID. But when it came to the iPad mini 3, Apple tried to slide quickly past it, and for good reason – there weren’t any upgrades to brag about.

Here’s are the new iPad mini 3 features:

• Touch ID


• Gold

That’s it! Everything else is the same as last year’s iPad mini 2. Same design. Same cameras. Same Wi-Fi. Same storage. No fully laminated display. No barometer. No burst mode. No anti-reflective coating.

Apple didn’t even give it an A8 processor to put it on the same level as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Instead, Apple has kept all the same internals as the iPad mini 2 but left the price at $100 because hey, that Touch ID and number ‘3’ on the packaging weren’t cheap.

That being said if you\'re in the market to get an iPad Mini, you\'re better off saving yourself $100 and getting an iPad Mini 2 that doesn\'t have the Gold color option or Touch ID. [via Cult of Mac]
