Second Wave of Apple Watch Pre-orders Start May 8th

Second Wave of Apple Watch Pre-orders Start May 8th
applewatchfeatheroStarting on May 8th, Apple will begin to take their second wave of Apple Watch pre-orders. This means consumers in countries such as Italy, according to iSpazio, will have a chance ti reserve their spot in line for the Apple Watch. According to an internal source, Apple Stores have already began receiving advertising materials and display tables for the Watch, which will be setup on May 7th. The report goes on to say that the Watch will be shipping to "a lot of other" countries on May 8th. It is unknown which countries will be receiving it just yet. Just like the first wave of countries like the United States, the Apple Watch will be sold exclusively online and will be shipped to your home. We assume that try-on appointments will also be available on the same day. Presumably, Apple will be shipping the second wave of Watches to first wave countries as well, as many of us have May 13th-27th shipping dates.

Angela Ahrendts: “It Was Not An Easy Decision”

Angela Ahrendts: “It Was Not An Easy Decision”
angela-ahrendts-apple-store-1A video was sent out by Apple\'s retail chief Angela Ahrendts to Apple retail employees going over the concerns about the new MacBook and Apple Watch launch. Originally posted by French blog Mac4Ever, the video readdresses what she said in the internal memo sent out to employees last week. Here is a snippet as to what she said:

I would say the number one question, in-store and online, is will you have product in the store for purchase on April 24. And this is why last week we announced that due to the high global interest, and the initial supply, that we would only be taking orders online right now. I will give you updates every single week as we have much more information, but that is the plan for right now.

She\'s letting retail staff know that they should be ready for customers who come in with pre-order Watches, looking for help setting it up. She also mentions the new 12-inch MacBook, which launched on April 10, the same day as Apple Watch pre-orders. The Apple Watch isn\'t the company\'s best product launch ever. In fact, the company is taking a lot of heat for how the launch was handled, especially with shipping times going all the way up to July. Ahrendts wraps up the video by saying the Watch launch is the most unique product launch yet and should not be any indication of the company\'s future plans.

One Million Apple Watches Sold on Friday, Black Sport Most Popular

apple-watches-heroA couple of sources claimed earlier this year that the Apple Watch was going to be a complete flop -- think what you want, however, this is completely false. According to a poll completed by Slice Intelligence, Apple took a whopping 957,000 Apple Watch pre-orders in the US alone. In comparison, the millionth iPhone was sold in 74 days, 28 days for the iPad and two years with the iPod. The report goes on to say that each customer spent $503.83 on average and bought more than one Watch. Unfortunately, the pricier Apple Watch Edition was not included in this report. Apple began taking pre-orders last Friday, taking an online-only approach. One million devices sold within the first 24 hours is an impressive figure nonetheless. This doesn\'t come as a surprise since most models were pushed back to June within the first hour after pre-orders became available Friday morning.

With under 24 hours before the Apple Watch pre-order, Apple\'s SVP of Online and Retail Stores Angela Ahrendts issued a media release regarding the constrained supply of the Watch on launch. The company notes that they will be taking only taking online orders “during the initial launch period.” Ahrendts\' said this in the press release:

We are excited to welcome customers tomorrow and introduce them to Apple Watch, our most personal device yet. Based on the tremendous interest from people visiting our stores, as well as the number of customers who have gone to the Apple Online Store to mark their favorite Apple Watch ahead of availability, we expect that strong customer demand will exceed our supply at launch,” said Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail and Online Stores. “To provide the best experience and selection to as many customers as we can, we will be taking orders for Apple Watch exclusively online during the initial launch period.

The Watch will be available for pre-order at 12:01 PDT in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. Furthermore, the wearable device will be shipping on April 24. MacRumors discovered yesterday that the Watch may have some delays on launch due to supply constraints, while some models may be unavailable to ship on launch day.

Apple Will be Limiting Customers to one Apple Watch for In-Store Pickup

The Apple Watch preorder is set to begin in just three days beginning on Friday, April 10th. According to a report from MacRumors, customers will be limited to reserve one Apple Watch for in-store pickup. Potential buyers will also be required to present valid government-based photo ID upon pick up of their Apple Watch at the Apple Store.

"Only the person named on the reservation will be allowed to pick up the product," Joe Rossignol says. It\'s worth noting that this limit isn\'t enforced on pre-orders placed online, shipped to your home.

"Inventory is subject to change. Your reservation is valid for pickup only at the Apple Retail Store that you selected. If you do not pick up your selected item(s) by the designated date and time, your reservation will be cancelled and your item(s) will be returned to stock."

There is a maximum of 1 reservation per customer and number of reservations may be limited. Apple also said they reserve the right to refuse, limit or cancel a reservation if Apple determines that a customer has provided misleading or fraudulent information and/or abused, disrupted or attempted to circumvent the reservation system. That being said, all these signs indicate that the wearable device will be of limited stock on launch. This Friday, Apple will be taking preorders for the Apple Watch in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong and Japan. Two weeks later, it will ship to homes and customers will be able to pick up their preordered watches. Walk-in purchases for the Apple Watch will not be allowed.
