Apple Pay May Be Launching in Canada As Early As November
As it stands, Apple Pay is currently only available in the United States. Though, you can use Apple Pay outside of the US, a supported US credit or debit card is required. CNBC tweeted out on Friday, based on a report by Dow Jones, Apple is looking to bring its mobile payment system to Canada in the fall. The Cupertino company is currently looking into the six major banks in Canada, bringing Apple Pay to the country in November, taking its first trip outside of the United States. After the initial tweet by CNBC, the Wall Street Journal expanded on the story. “At this stage, it is still uncertain whether all six banks will launch Apple Pay at the same time because talks are ongoing,” says sources who relayed the information to WSJ. The story goes on to say that Royal Bank of Canada, Toronto-Dominion Bank, Bank of Nova Scotia, Bank of Montreal, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and National Bank of Canada are the potential candidates for Apple\'s NFC based mobile payment system in Canada. These six banks make up for ninety precent of retail bank accounts in Canada. Apple\'s biggest advantage being the majority of merchant terminals in the country are NFC compatible, which is required for Apple Pay to work. Although talks are going on, banks “aren’t happy with Apple’s fee proposals” and are concerned about potential security breaches with the service, saying customers could potentially take stolen credit cards and put them into Apple Pay.

The iPhone 5c wasn\'t really all that popular, and you have to admit, it was essentially an iPhone 5 with a plastic, color back. That said, it looks like that still may continue thanks to a series of photos leaked by Future Supplier shows the possibility of the alleged next-generation iPhone 6c. The images resembles the current-generation iPhone 5c which includes a single unibody piece of plastic with cutouts for the iSight camera, flash, headphone jacks, speakers and lighting cable. The biggest difference is the leaked iPhone 6c images have a more oval-like shape, similar to the iPhone 5s with dual-tone flash. The design also takes cues from the current generation iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. With a single row speaker grill and a single microphone cut out at the bottom. 
The images also detail the possibility of a revamped 4-inch iPhone. With the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple got rid of it\'s \'legacy\' 4-inch devices in favor of 4.7 and 5.5-inch devices. Though, I\'d take the report with a grain of salt. The Chinese market is known for making knock-off devices. This leak may possibly be a knockoff device that may never come to market. The iPhone 6c -- just like the iPhone 5c -- will use last generation technology. As the next-generation iPhones come out, the iPhone 6c will contain an A8 processor, NFC technology, and a touch ID sensor. The device will cost between $400 and $500. The feature is so secure, Apple Retail employees cannot remove Activation Lock in the store. This makes your shinny new smartphone or tablet turn into a useless paperweight. It\'s worth noting that downgrading a device that is activation locked on iOS 7 to previous versions will still prompt for Activation Lock. That said, this is only applicable to the iPhone 4.

According to 9to5Mac, Sprint MVNOs such as Ting, Boost, Virgin, and more -- are no longer required to wait a certain period of time, typically a year, to support new devices. Up until now, Sprint MVNOs would only be capable of supporting last generation devices. With the carrier lifting this requirement, Ting is announcing support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Other carriers will be following suit. Owner of unlocked, SIM-Free iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus will soon be able to activate their devices on the Ting network. The carrier offers plans as low as $3 a month. The move comes just after the carrier has just made a deal with T-Mobile to offer support for GSM devices on its network.

During the holiday quarter, Apple sold 74.5 million handsets making up half of the companies earnings. Suppliers say the iPhone-maker may sell over 50 million handsets within the first quarter of the year. On Tuesday, DigiTimes estimates shipments of iPhones to grow from 43.7 million units to 50 million units from this quarter last year, making it a 14.4 percent annual increase.
Tim Cook, Apple\'s CEO, was dissatisfied with the iPhone 6 inventory by the end of the year, so more iPhones will be needed to fulfill this request. Hurun research says, "the upcoming Chinese New Year would be the peak of gift giving in China". The companies sales in Greater China topped $16.1 billion within the last three months of 2014. On top of that, a total of 25 new retail stores are planned for the country rolling out within the next 2 years. This means there will be a total of 40 Apple retail stores in the country.

Last month Apple noted that they are now supporting over 90% of banks, credit, and debit card issuers in the US. The report says Apple is working on getting marketing and promotional materials for Marc, which indicates that the service will be available as early as March. Though, only being available since November, Apple Pay now accounts for 1.7% of all mobile payments in the US.

The only model that isn\'t available is the SIM-free iPhone 6 Plus released earlier this week. The iPhone 6 Plus fluctuated its shipping times, and in certain cases hit the 4-6 week mark. The iPhone 6 hit a high of 7-10 business days. When I pre-ordered my space grey 64GB iPhone 6 Plus in September, it wasn\'t slated for delivery until November. Luckily, I was able to pick one up at my local Apple Store in early October. Though, it\'s not all fun and games outside of the US. Shipping times are still improving in Europe and in China users must pre-register for a reservation online, and pick them up in store. That being said, this can result in ridiculously long waiting lines.

According to a new report from MacRumors , Apple will finally begin selling SIM-Free unlocked models of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus beginning on September 6 through their online and retail stores. Apple currently sells the iPhones on AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile (which is unlocked). An unlocked iPhone would mean the customer will be able to decide which carrier they want without restrictions. They\'ll also be able to use their iPhones overseas. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus start at $649 and $749 respectively for 16GB, and go up in price with higher storage capacities.
