One Million Apple Watches Sold on Friday, Black Sport Most Popular

apple-watches-heroA couple of sources claimed earlier this year that the Apple Watch was going to be a complete flop -- think what you want, however, this is completely false. According to a poll completed by Slice Intelligence, Apple took a whopping 957,000 Apple Watch pre-orders in the US alone. In comparison, the millionth iPhone was sold in 74 days, 28 days for the iPad and two years with the iPod. The report goes on to say that each customer spent $503.83 on average and bought more than one Watch. Unfortunately, the pricier Apple Watch Edition was not included in this report. Apple began taking pre-orders last Friday, taking an online-only approach. One million devices sold within the first 24 hours is an impressive figure nonetheless. This doesn\'t come as a surprise since most models were pushed back to June within the first hour after pre-orders became available Friday morning.

With under 24 hours before the Apple Watch pre-order, Apple\'s SVP of Online and Retail Stores Angela Ahrendts issued a media release regarding the constrained supply of the Watch on launch. The company notes that they will be taking only taking online orders “during the initial launch period.” Ahrendts\' said this in the press release:

We are excited to welcome customers tomorrow and introduce them to Apple Watch, our most personal device yet. Based on the tremendous interest from people visiting our stores, as well as the number of customers who have gone to the Apple Online Store to mark their favorite Apple Watch ahead of availability, we expect that strong customer demand will exceed our supply at launch,” said Angela Ahrendts, Apple’s senior vice president of Retail and Online Stores. “To provide the best experience and selection to as many customers as we can, we will be taking orders for Apple Watch exclusively online during the initial launch period.

The Watch will be available for pre-order at 12:01 PDT in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. Furthermore, the wearable device will be shipping on April 24. Apple Pushing Customers to Buy the Apple Watch and New MacBook Online

11Here lately we\'ve been noticing a trend that when Apple launches a new product, waiting lines get really long. This tends to give Apple free publicity and press for how long these lines can grow. That said though, it begins to look like Apple wants to reverse this decision and is suggesting that customers purchase the Apple Watch and the new MacBook through the Apple Online Store. Obtained by Business Insider, Apple\'s retail Chief Angela Ahrendts said, "the days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over," according to an internal memo sent to Apple Store employees. Unlike Apple\'s current retail setup, the Apple Watch won\'t be displayed on hands-on stands or attached to security chains. The report also notes that in-store pickups will be unavailable to customers in the UK. Here\'s the full memo from Apple\'s retail Chief:

Get in line online

"The days of waiting in line and crossing fingers for a product are over for our customers. The Apple Store app and our online store make it much easier to purchase Apple Watch and the new MacBook. Customers will know exactly when and where their product arrives.

This is a significant change in mindset, and we need your help to make it happen. Tell your customers we have more availability online, and show them how easy it is to order. You’ll make their day."

This Friday, Apple will be shipping the new MacBook while preorders begin for the Apple Watch in the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and a small handful of other countries. Two weeks later, it will ship to homes and customers will be able to pick up their preordered watches in stores.

New Apple Wireless Keyboard Lands on Apple Online Store

New Apple Wireless Keyboard Lands on Apple Online Store

apple-wireless-keyboard-2015-02Apple has quietly updated their online store earlier yesterday morning with a new version of the Apple Wireless keyboard, which also features backlit keys. The product description has yet to be updated, though the product image does have indicate dimming and brightening keys on the F5 and 56 keys respectively, as found on Apple\'s notebook line. The keys have had a slight redesign, most notably the eject key being replaced with a power key. Our biggest concern is wether Apple has replaced the scissor mechanism in favor of the butterfly mechanism found in the latest Macbook. The new mechanism reduces movement and improves the typing experience according to Apple. [9to5Mac]
