SomaSim Launching ’1849′ Next Month for iPad, PC and Mac!

Circling back around on our coverage of MacWorld 2014, we met up with the folks from SomaSim on their upcoming Gold Rush-themed city builder for the iPad, appropriately called 1849. Back at the moment we didn\'t have much extra details other than what we had previously in February, however, the developers have followed up with us to share some exciting news. After much anticipation 1849 will land on May 8th for PC, Mac, iPad and Android tablets. While we aren\'t completely certain what pricing model will be, if our memory serves us correctly the iPad version will cost either $3.99 or $4.99. Additionally brand new screenshots have been released which gives us an even better look into the game. For those interested, be sure to check out the gallery on Imgur. Moving forward, 1849 is set within 20 real Gold Rush-era cities, each with unique topography and natural resources that influence how they grow. Players can transform Northern California from a rugged backwater into an economic powerhouse by building mines, establishing farms, attracting workers as well as setting up trade networks from the High Sierras to San Francisco and more. During the week of MacWorld 2014 we saw a lot of apps and games both on and off the expo floor, however, 1849 happened to be another one of our favorites after getting an in-person demo. Just like always, we\'ll be sure to keep you updated if or when more information becomes available.
