Apple iPhone users browse the web more than Android users do

jeudi 15 mai 2014

The latest stats from mobile ad network Chitika shows that in North America, Apple iPhone users were responsible for 53.1% of the mobile web traffic coming from smartphones last month. Android devices were used on 44.5% of mobile web traffic attributed to smartphones. What makes this interesting is that Android has the larger smartphone market share in the region.

Besides the advantage in sales, most Android handsets do have a larger screen than the iPhone, which would seem to give Android an advantage when it comes to browsing the web. This might say something about Safari, which has always received high marks.

Windows Phone users are responsible for a slim 1% of the smartphone related mobie web traffic in North America, while BlackBerry has an even slimmer .8% share. According to Chitika, Windows Phone's share of this web traffic has remained flat over the last few months. The mobile ad network says that this is a sign that iOS and Android phones will continue to own the vast majority of smartphone sales in the region.
