Bing Maps gets update; landmarks and roads are now easier to see

You might have noticed a few new changes to Bing Maps. For example, the gradient coloring for land areas now changes depending on your zoom level. When you are zoomed out, land areas will be lighter. They get darker when you zoom in. This way, streets become easier to see with the greater contrast. Microsoft has also changed the icons for local landmarks. Instead of using global icons, local ones are used instead. This way, no matter where you live, you can understand what landmarks you are near. For example, a Dollar sign might not mean anything to Bing Maps users in certain countries. In those regions, a bank might be represented using a different icon



Speaking of icons, the update removes situations where transit icons are duplicated in the U.S. And with the new styling used by Bing, you now will be able to distinguish between a park trail, a pathway and a road.
