Do you want to know a secret? Nokia X2 could dual boot Windows Phone and Android

dimanche 25 mai 2014

With reports that a Nokia X2 is getting prepped to be served up by Microsoft, there could be more to this story than meets the eye. A post on the Secret app hinted that the Nokia X2 will dual boot Windows Phone and Android. In addition, the post says that the handset will carry Google Play Services. That would seem to go against the idea of the Nokia X line being powered by a forked version of Android.

For those unfamiliar with Secret, the app allows users to post true and false statements anonymously, which obviously makes it hard to take this rumor without casting a cynical eye upon it. On one hand though, with Microsoft now in control of the Nokia X branded models, it would make sense for the software giant to include Windows Phone in a dual boot, especially since the gang at Redmond wasn't so excited about Nokia releasing an Android powered phone in the first place.

The Nokia X2 would basically compete for the same customers as the low-end Motorola Moto E does. According to a trip to the AnTuTu Benchmark site, the Nokia X2 will have a 4.3 inch screen with 480 x 800 resolution. It is driven by a dual-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 200 processor, with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of native storage. That tops the specs on the Nokia X, which features a dual-core 1GHz CPU and 512MB of RAM.

Years ago, Nokia launched a featurephone called the Nokia X2, so we could see a different name for the smartphone.
