If you were excited at the thought of HTC preparing a Prime version of its One M8 smartphone, it looks like you’re in for a little bit of disappointment. @evleaks - who previously posted the first and only renders of the One M8 Prime - now has it that “development on Prime has been suspended indefinitely.” A reason for this hasn’t been provided.
Granted, assuming that HTC cancelled the M8 Prime, this doesn’t mean the company can’t work on another handset that shares its features. The M8 Prime was supposed to be waterproof, offering a 5.5-inch Quad HD (1,440 x 2,560) display, LTE-A Cat. 6, quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, and a Duo UltraPixel rear camera.
With LG announcing its Quad HD G3 earlier this week, it’s obvious that other smartphone makers will also want to introduce comparable devices in the near future. So we’d venture to guess that HTC is still going to launch a Quad HD handset, but apparently this won’t be the M8 Prime (seen below). In any case, we’ll see what happens later this year.
