While HTC didn’t confirm the existence of the One M8 Ace, the handset could be officially announced very soon, possibly on June 3. Until then, more images that show the M8 Ace appeared in China, revealing several color versions of the device, including red, blue, grey, and white.
The M8 Ace that we can see now looks a bit different from the one that was approved by Chinese authorities last week. Its dual front speakers resemble the speakers found on the original HTC One M8, while its rear houses a 13MP single-lens camera with LED flash. Unlike the One M8, the M8 Ace is made out of plastic, not metal. The new handset also seems to have a slightly smaller, 4.7-inch 1080p display. However, its processor hasn’t been changed, being the same quad-core 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 unit.
It’s not clear if HTC wants to release the One M8 Ace globally, or just in China and Taiwan. In any case, the handset should be cheaper than the original One M8. We'll probably find out more about this soon.
