China's Twitter-like social network Weibo brought us the first photos of HTC's newest smartphone - the HTC Butterfly 2. A Japanese/Asian market exclusive, the successor to 2013's Butterfly and Butterfly S models looks nothing like its predecessor. In fact, it features a very peculiar design that sees the bottom part of the phone seemingly sliding in and out the upper part, leaving the upper part with a pair of horns you won't see on another mobile device. It's like the Butterfly 2 came back from an AC/DC show!
There's little else we know about what exactly HTC is pulling off with this design, but we do have a good idea of the phone's spec-sheet. Inside, the Butterfly 2 is made out of pretty much the same Grade-A beef as the HTC One (M8), sporting a 5.2-inch 1080p display, a Snapdragon 801 CPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB of storage, with the main difference here being the rear camera – on the place of the 4MP UltraPixel camera, you'll find a 13MP shooter.
Whatever HTC's designers are up to, we'll probably learn shortly. Until then, we are left with these photos to entertain our imagination.
