Do you root or jailbreak your Android or iOS devices?

lundi 14 juillet 2014

For most people, a smartphone is a device that looks and functions the way its manufacturer intended it to. Those people often don't have the time, patience, or knowledge, to go ahead and attempt any modifications that would allow them a wider degree of control over their phone (or mess it up completely). And that's absolutely fine -- especially considering that rooting their Android device, or jailbreaking their iDevice, invalidates their warranty.

But a vocal, yet smaller, community doesn't feel that way. They want their smartphone to look and work exactly as they want it to, and that often means they have to resort to modding, again through rooting or jailbreaking. The possibilities are usually endless after that, specifically if we're talking Android. We're talking about changing up the overall look of the entire interface, and even adding functionality that didn't exist before on top.

We know for a fact that most people don't mess with their devices, and, again, there's a very good reason for that. But we wanted to get a better idea of the split by polling you directly. So speak up! Are you a root/jailbreak user, or have you made your peace with your device as-is?
