Microsoft job listing hints at new photo and video applications "across all screens"

Microsoft is apparently working on a new and improved way for Windows users to view pictures and video on their handsets, tablets and desktop PCs. The software giant is going up against Google's well-received imaging applications, and has posted a job listing, seeking someone who would help Microsoft develop something new so that you can "view your photo and video collection in dramatically rich and immersive ways."



The posting mentions that Microsoft is looking to build the best photo experience across all screens, from phone to desktop. The features that Microsoft wants on its new photo and video applications include "image analysis, imaging effects, database and a cloud synchronization layer.

We are looking for talented developers (SDE and above) to build the best photos experience across all screens, from phone to desktop. You will potentially be working on various layers of the application, from user experience to the backend layers, which include image analysis, imaging effects, database and cloud synchronization layer. The ideal candidate will have:



- Strong analytical and design skills.



- Experience building consumer applications on Windows Phone and/or Modern Windows.



- Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.



- A minimum of 2 years of C++ or C# software and development experience on shipped consumer products.



- Strong communication and collaboration skills.



- Experience with the XAML framework and MVVM architecture is a plus!



- A BA/BS in Computer Engineering or Science, or related technical discipline, is preferred.
