Around two weeks before, we passed along the story of early Surface Pro 3 owners facing annoying connectivity issues. See, when the otherwise sleek and powerful tablet resumes from its power-saving mode, the Wi-Fi and network connection drivers 'magically' disappear. Not that you can't simply restart the tablet and go on like nothing happened... the problem is, something did actually happen. And it's exactly the kind of thing you don't want that to deal with when you are in a hurry to e-mail that spreadsheet you've been working on, for example.
Microsoft, being a good sport about its latest products, heard users' woes and promised a fix, which it delivered today. Install System Firmware Update 7/16/2014 for Surface Pro 3, and crack open a cold one for Microsoft's engineers. The update further enhances system stability and improves wireless connection and throughput.
Prior to today's fix, the Intel-based Surface Pro 3 received a pack of five updates on July 8, which reduced power consumption, improved track-pad reliability, and delivered other system enhancements. It's good to see Microsoft is keeping busy supporting its premium devices.
