It's probably safe to say that, considering the quantity of Galaxy F-related rumors, Samsung really is cooking something. In fact, just hours ago, we felt like we had a pretty good idea as to what to expect. That is, until we came across a newly-published report by the Korea Herald, which is apparently based on information from industry sources.

According to the piece, Galaxy S5 Alpha or Galaxy S5 F -- as the phone will be reportedly named -- is apparently referred to as the "card phone" due to its slenderness. Indeed, the device is now said to have a 6 mm-slim metal body, which is an interesting twist from what we know so far. Also interesting is the suggested, 4.7'' screen diagonal, especially since we were expecting something along the lines of 5.1'' to 5.25''. Lastly, the device is said to come packing an Exynos 5 Octa processor, and not a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 as we were expecting.
A yesterday report by another Korean publication, ET News, claimed the announcement date for the Alpha falls on the 13th of August, with release scheduled for sometime in September. As you can imagine, if this information is true, it would leave little doubt that Samsung is taking position preemptively in anticipation of Apple's iPhone 6, which is also rumored to be super-thin and to feature a 4.7'' glass. Only time will tell how that one will turn out.
