Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is finally receiving the sweet Android 4.4.2 KitKat treatment

Samsung's first concoction between a Galaxy smartphone and a full-blown point-and-shoot camera, the Galaxy S4 Zoom (SM-C101), has been finally treated to the sweet Android 4.4.2 KitKat love. Rolling under the C101XXUBNF4 build number, the firmware update is certainly bringing the big bag of much-anticipated KitKat features, most notably the improved performance and the neat visual tweaks (the redesigned, transparent status bar, the white icons, etc.). Wireless printing support and the revamped lockscreen are on board, too.

That would put the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom on par with its successor, the Samsung Galaxy K zoom, at least in the firmware department. There is no word if some of the novel camera features of the K zoom will also land on the S4 Zoom – as the saying goes, “hope is a good breakfast, but a bad supper”.

The KitKat update has already started rolling out over-the-air in certain regions of the world (Russia, that is), so it will probably be landing on your Galaxy S4 Zoom in a timely manner. Still, consider that you might not be among the first wave to receive it. If waiting isn't pretty high on your list of priorities, you can promptly head on to Settings > About device > Software update and manually check if the gods have finally smiled upon your beloved smartphone. You can also head to the source link, where you can download and then flash the firmware update yourself.
