Most of the concept phones that we’re usually seeing don’t ever get to become real devices. Even so, some of the ideas that concepts are presenting are eventually implemented, in one way or another, in products that we can buy. That’s the beauty of concept designs: you can imagine anything, including things that are not technically possible - knowing (or hoping) that they will be possible someday.
With Android now being the dominant smartphone platform, it’s no wonder that a lot of the handset concepts made in the last years are related to Google’s OS. Of course, there’s also a myriad of iPhone concepts, but we’re not going to talk about that right now. Instead, we’ll present you a selection of the most awesome Android phone concepts seen lately. Feel free to comment and let us know if you have any favorites.
While flexible displays are already here, and there are a couple of smartphones that use them (Samsung Galaxy Round and LG G Flex), there’s still a long way to go before fully flexible smartphones arrive. But when they will be ready for mass production, they may be similar, in some ways, to the Galaxy Skin - a concept designed back in 2011. The Galaxy Skin is completely bendable, thus it’s supposed to feature not just a flexible screen and flexible case, but also a flexible battery. The concept was created as part of a Samsung Talent Program in Seoul, South Korea. So, who knows, maybe Samsung will have a real device like this in the future.
