Microsoft's Nokia Lumia 530 is now available to buy (only in China for the beginning)

Last month, when Microsoft announced the Nokia Lumia 530, it said that the smartphone would be launched starting August. Well, we’re now in the first week of August, and, as of today, the 530 is available in China, which is the first market to get it.

Microsoft is selling the Lumia 530 for $97 (599 CNY) in China, offering it as the cheapest new Windows Phone handset ever. Like the older Lumia 520 and Lumia 525, the 530 is a pretty small smartphone, sporting a 4-inch display with 480 x 854 pixels. Other features include a quad-core Snapdragon processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, microSD card support, and a 1,430 mAh battery. The handset has a 5 MP rear camera on the back, but no front-facing camera. The 530 obviously runs Windows Phone 8.1, and comes with the Chinese version of Cortana.

Later this year, the Nokia Lumia 530 will also be available in the US, where T-Mobile is getting ready to sell it for a price that hasn’t been announced (we assume it won't be higher than $100 anyway).
