Poll: Would you prefer an HTC One (M8) running Android, or Windows Phone 8.1?

samedi 2 août 2014

Yesterday, Verizon inadvertently posted a render that showed HTC’s very first Windows Phone 8.1 handset. Expected to be called "One (M8) for Windows", the device obviously resembles the Android-based HTC One (M8). In fact, it looks like it’s offering pretty much the same hardware. Thus, this Microsoft-endorsed smartphone seems to come with the same specs that we can find on the One (M8) with Android: a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, BoomSound speakers, quad-core 2.3 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 5 MP front-facing camera, and a Duo camera on the back.

HTC might announce the "One (M8) for Windows" later this month, on August 19. The handset will probably not be exclusive to Verizon, and should be released in Europe, too.

The One (M8) that runs Android currently costs around $600 off-contract. We are expecting the Windows Phone 8.1 model to have a similar price, and we’re curious to know which of the two One (M8) variants appeal most to our readers. Is the openness of Google's Android perfect for the device, or is the Microsoft-flavored tile-based interface a better match for it? Cast your votes below!
