Kazam is a fairly new smartphone manufacturing brand, which was started by a couple of former HTC employees – ex-head of sales Michael Coombes and former marketing director for UK region James Atkins. It is a UK-based company, which produces budget-oriented devices and targets the European markets, claiming their mission is to bring “stunning design, robust hardware and intuitive technology, underpinned by outstanding customer service”.
The company currently has two lines of android-powered smartphones – the Thunder and the Trooper – and a line for feature phones, dubbed Kazam Life. It has now announced a new model – the Thunder 340W, which will be the first device of a new range of handsets, loaded with Windows Phone 8.1.
The Thunder 340W features a 4” IPS screen with a 800x480 resolution (233 PPI), a quad-core 1.2 GHz CPU, 512 MB RAM, 1,500 mAh battery, and dual-SIM support. Its main snapper is a 5 MP camera that supports 720p video capture; the front-facing cam is a 0.3 MP one. The phone is adorned by a stylish “silver metal brush” finish.
We've no information on how much it would cost yet, however, seeing as the company's handsets rarely retail beyond the $210 (£130) mark, we'd wager that it would be in the range of $130 - $195 (£80 - £120). Of course, the phone comes with Kazam's “free cracked screen replacement”, which guarantees you a single free screen replacement, as long as you take advantage of the service within a year of purchase. It is yet unknown when it would be available.
