BBM updated with easier photo sharing, voice calling

BlackBerry Messenger, or BBM, has been updated with a more streamlined attachment sharing that makes it easier to share files such as photos and documents between users. Audio calling has also been added. This brings the cross-platform messenger app up to snuff with other competitors in the field such as Whatsapp and Viber. BBM uses BlackBerry's private secure network and it was quite a hit when BlackBerry phones ruled the corporate world. Users would exchange unique personal numbers called PINs, thus connecting them to each other, and be able to communicate securely. However, as BlackBerry's fortunes diminished, BBM user share has diminished as well. BlackBerry hopes this update as well as BBM's relatively new cross-platform nature will bring users back to its service.
