Huawei to produce Android Wear powered smartwatch for 2015

samedi 6 septembre 2014

Add Huawei to the list of those manufacturers who have released, or are planning to release, an Android Wear powered timepiece. The manufacturer launched a fitness band/smartwatch earlier this year, the Huawei TalkBand B1. That device offers 6 day battery life by combining a 90mAh battery with a low power display. The TalkBand B1 pairs with any Android phone running Android 2.3 or higher, and any Apple iPhone powered by iOS 5 or higher.

Looking forward, Huawei CEO Richard Yu said that his company's Android Wear offering, due to be released in 2015, would be "innovative and beautiful." He also said that the device would out do the Samsung Gear S. That timepiece is the closest thing yet to having a smartphone on your wrist as the Tizen powered wearable offers 3G connectivity. That allows users to make/take calls and texts, receive notifications, all without having to be paired with a nearby smartphone.

The smartwatch market continues to get a bit more crowded every day, putting pressure on manufacturers to come up with a game changing feature that will help their watch stand out in the crowd. What will Huawei have up its sleeve?
