Jony Ive might have hinted that Swiss makers are toast, since the iWatch is that awesome

jeudi 4 septembre 2014

Apple chief designer Jony Ive has allegedly dissed the good ol' Swiss watchmaking by saying that Switzerland will be in jeopardy when the iWatch hits the shelves. Well, he apparently used a certain four-letter word to describe the state that the Apple's smartwatch will leave those Swiss watch makers in, but since we haven't been there, we can't confirm for sure, plus Jony Ive doesn't really seem like that type.

It's not precisely clear when the iWatch will be launched, but its actual announcement might happen as soon as next Tuesday, alongside the iPhone 6, at a "one more thing" type of break during Apple's big event in Cupertino. The thing is that whenever Apple tries to conquer a new market niche, it announces the product months before the actual launch, telling potential users to hold their horses on the competition's products until they see what Apple has to offer in the field. It is not out of the question then that we would see the iWatch next week, and gauge if Jony Ive was right to eventually badmouth the Swiss watchmaking industry.
