With the @DroidLanding Twitter site reactivated, there is plenty of speculation about a pair of new Motorola DROID models that could be on the way in time for the holiday shopping season. One of the phones is allegedly the Motorola DROID Turbo (XT1254), expected to be the DROID flagship for Verizon.
Rumors have the Turbo carrying a 5.2inch 1440 x 2560 resolution screen, powered by a quad-core 2.7GHz Snapdragon 805. 3GB of RAM is expected inside with a 20MP camera in back and a 2MP snapper in front. The unit is expected to offer front-facing speakers, as well. And there is talk that the Turbo will offer fast recharging capabilities. According to the leak, the two new models look more like the Motorola Moto X than Motorola DROID handsets, although it would appear that Kevlar will still be used by the manufacturer.
Another leak shows a rear cover, supposedly from the phablet-sized Motorola Moto S. This is the "Shamu" model which we've already sheepishly pointed out, sounds like a "whale" of a phone. There is some speculation that this model will feature a 5.9 inch screen with resolution of 1440 x 2560. A Snapdragon 805 is expected under the hood, with the Adreno 420 handling graphics. Back and front-facing cameras could weigh in at 13MP and 2.1MP respectively.
Sounds like Motorola is going to be busy pushing out some pretty powerful handsets soon.
