An iPhone 6 vs Galaxy S5 vs HTC One (M8) speed test demos why specs are for geeks

jeudi 2 octobre 2014

Despite its "only" 1 GB of RAM, the iPhone 6 managed to finish first at an improvised speed test, against Android juggernauts like the Galaxy S5 and the HTC One (M8). These are not even synthetic benchmarks, mind you, but rather non-scientific random actions on the three phones, that are largely kept standart. These include opening and loading apps, keeping them in the background, тхен going to the entry point, marking which one will finish first in each stage.

Long story short, Sense UI on the One (M8) passed Samsung's TouchWiz Android overlay with flying colors, as could be expected, based on traditional observations. What is interesting to discover, however, is that the vertical integration of Apple's hardware, coupled with tailor-made software, is a dreamy approach when it comes to performance optimization, as it allows Cupertino to don superior real-life experience with less silicon bang for the buck. Of course, one can never directly compare such different mobile operating systems, yet can still receive a general usability impression from such tests, especially when it comes to the iPhone's supposed "limited multitasking". What do you think?
