Galaxy Note 4, Note Edge to feature built-in MirrorLink support

It was revealed today that Samsung's Galaxy Note bannersmen, the upcoming Galaxy Note 4 and its innovative peer, the Galaxy Note Edge, both support the MirrorLink standard, which allows them to communicate to the infotaiment system of your MirrorLink-enabled car. The standard is an alternative to the relatively-new Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which allow you to pair your Android or iOS device, respectively, to the dashboard of the car and access some of the most important features and functionalities of your smartphone directly via it in a comfortable and safe way.

"With volume production of MirrorLink-enabled vehicles currently taking place at Honda, PSA Peugeot-Citroën, Toyota, Volkswagen and many others, MirrorLink has clearly entered mainstream acceptance as one of the world's most compelling connected-car technologies," said Chan-woo Park, a Vice President with Samsung.

MirrorLink is developed by the Car Connectivity Consortium and is already supported by a whole galaxy of car brands (Honda, PSA Peugeot-Citroen, Toyota, Volkswagen, among others), which now produce MirrorLink-enabled vehicles on a regular basis. Interestingly enough, some of the mentioned brands support not only one or two, but three of the car connectivity standards - Honda, for example, will eventually allow you to make use of either MirrorLink, Android Auto, or Apple CarPlay.



Car Connectivity Consortium expects that this newly-announced support will further improve the popularity of the MirrorLink standard and will ensure a safer and more convenient smartphone usage while driving.
