The Google Play Store is in the midst of being updated to version 5.0.31. This includes a new, flatter icon and the new Material Design. You might not find many changes to the app listings themselves. Those pages were the subject of a previous update. The changes appear in other pages such as search results and lists. These pages include more vivid colors, improved shadowing and animations that are useful. For example, the "hamburger" button turns into a back arrow.
The whole idea is to make the Play Store snappier, and it seems that Google has succeeded with this goal. Your own Android powered handset might not have the updated Google Play Store available just yet, but it is on the way, so be patient.
We have a series of photos showing off the new look of the Google Play Store, and all you need to see them is to click on the slideshow below.
