Last month, we told you that Verizon could release the HTC Desire 610 in the near future. Well, today the carrier announced that it would sell the handset starting October 9, calling it Desire 612 instead of 610.
The Desire 612 supports Verizon XLTE network (which, of course, hasn’t been rolled out all over the US), and will be available for free with a 2 year contract agreement.
The new handset has an interesting paint job (combining black and red) that’s reminiscent of the Droid Incredible series. That aside, its internals aren’t really different from what the Desire 610 (available at AT&T since July) is offering. Thus, you’re getting a 4.7-inch display with 480 x 854 pixels, BoomSound speakers, a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of expandable internal memory. The 612 also features an 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, and a 1.3 MP front-facing camera. The handset runs Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC's Sense UI.
The HTC Desire 612 will be joining the ranks of Motorola Droid Maxx, Droid Mini, and LG Lucid 3, which are also offered for free on contract by Verizon. So, any takers?
