With Halloween upon us, Sony decided to release a very short Halloween-themed video, this way reminding us that - as previously announced - its Xperia Z series of smartphones and tablets will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop updates starting the beginning of 2015.
The video was posted on Facebook and can’t be embedded here, but you can watch it at the source link below (even if you don’t have a Facebook account).
The first Sony devices to get Android Lollipop (early next year) will be the Z3 and Z2 series. After that, the new version of Android will be rolled out to the following models: Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia ZR, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, and Xperia Z1 Compact (most likely not in this particular order). While all these are regular Xperia devices, there’s one special model that’s going to get Lollipop in the coming weeks: the Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition.
Already available for select Nexus devices, Android 5.0 Lollipop brings tons of novelties, including a significantly different look (thanks to Material Design), speed boost, multi-user support, a battery saving mode, and so on. You can check out our Android 5.0 Lollipop review for a detailed look at the OS.
