While Motorola has all the reasons in the world to be proud of the 3,900 mAh battery inside its Droid Turbo / Moto Maxx, there are some handsets out there that feature even larger batteries. The latest among them is the Gionee Marathon M3, a smartphone that was recently unveiled in India.
The Marathon M3 is a mid-range, affordable device, and is India’s first smartphone to come with a 5000 mAh battery, being able to provide a talk-time of up to 32.4 hours, or a stand-by time of up to 32.8 days. As you’d expect, the M3 is not a thin handset (like others made by Gionee), as it measures 144.5 x 71.45 x 10.4 mm.
Running Android 4.4 KitKat, the Gionee Marathon M3 sports a 5-inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels, further featuring: an 8 MP rear camera, 2 MP front-facing camera, dual SIM capabilities, a quad-core 1.3 GHz MediaTek processor, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of expandable internal memory. The new smartphone should be released in India soon for around $210 (12,999 INR). At the moment, it’s not clear if the Marathon M3 will be launched in other markets. Would you buy it if it were available in your region?
