Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T are the three stateside carriers that have combined to offer mobile payment service Softcard. Originally titled ISIS, the rise of the terror organization forced the name change. While Softcard had been available for Android handsets, Verizon is now offering the service to those sporting a Windows Phone handset that comes with NFC.
Now that Verizon branded Windows Phone handsets can install the free Softcard app from the Windows Phone Store, both Big Red and AT&T now offer Softcard for Windows Phone models. Once you install the app on your handset, you need to make sure you have the special, secure SIM card required to use the mobile payment feature. After you install the app and swap out your SIM card, you are ready to use Softcard.
When you're out at an establishment that accepts Softcard payments, simply open the app using your PIN number. Select which card you want to use for this particular purchase, and tap the back of your phone against the Softcard terminal. It is as easy as that.
