Swype – the custom keyboard, which once introduced the swipe typing mechanism that is currently famous in many Android keyboards – has been available for iOS for a while now, thanks to the fact that iOS 8 finally allowed 3rd party keyboards to be installed on Apple's mobile devices. It has grown through the years in its own right, adding word prediction, dictionary personalization, and gestures for quick punctuation access. The iOS version is still rather limited, when compared to the features available on Android, yet developer Nuance is determined to grow it for Apple's platform.
So, Swype got an update, which ads 16 new languages to its iOS roster, bringing the total number to 21. It will now also predict emoji, as well as words, based on the words in your text (supports only 6 languages - English (US), English (UK), French, Italian, German and Spanish). The layout of the keyboard can now be customized, with a choice between QWERTY, QWERTZ, or AZERTY, and there is a special layout for iPad, which should allow swiping to be comfortable, no mather how you are holding the tablet..
Swype costs $0.99 on the App Store and comes with 5 themes. Unfortunately, there is no free version, like there is on the Play Store, for undecided users who may wish to try before they buy.
