What's that beauty, you asked? It's the new AudioEngine B2 Bluetooth speaker in all its Zebrawood, Black Ash, and Walnut glory. Inside its classy box, you'll find two 2.75-inch Kevlar woofers, silk dome tweeters, and a 24-bit TI PCM5102A DAC which is a fine unit to have inside an upper-midrange speaker. Output is driven by a 60w peak amplifier, and frequency response is rated at 65Hz-22kHz. It's a Bluetooth speaker, after all - you'd be better off seeking your deep bass kick elsewhere. As for streaming quality, Bluetooth 4.0 and aptX encoding support is as good as it gets. There's also a 3.5mm Aux input in case you want to go wired.
The AE B2 looks quite appealing, with its $300 price tag seemingly fair for the kind of craftsmanship and, hopefully, sound quality you're getting with it. In case you're a tough sell, Audioengine lets you audition the speaker for 30 days and ask for refund. Full details are available below for audiophiles to prey on.
