Some of you might remember when watching YouTube on the OG Apple iPhone could be very good, or very bad. It all depended on whether you were using an EDGE connection, or hooked into a Wi-Fi signal. On EDGE, most YouTube videos looked awful, while on Wi-Fi they were sharp and clear. What brings this up is word today that Netflix has updated its app for iOS to improve the resolution of videos and television programs viewed on the app.
Starting today, Apple iPhone 6 Plus users watching Netflix, can view content in 1080p resolution. But there is a catch. The phone must be hooked up to a Wi-Fi connection in order for the higher resolution to be employed. Netflix also says that it has optimized its UI to work with the larger 4.7-inch screen on the Apple iPhone 6 and the 5.5-inch screen on the iPhone 6 Plus.
Netflix says that "You’ll see more titles on screen to choose from, bigger imagery, and improved performance throughout." Right now, viewers can watch the second season of the highly regarded Orange is the New Black, produced in-house by Netflix..
