Usually, affordable smartphones are nothing to write home about when it comes to design and build quality. Most of them are made out of cheap plastic, and don’t really stand out. However, the Xolo Q1020 is different.
Announced today in India (where Xolo is based, being among the top local phone makers), the Q1020 has edges dressed in “a one of a kind wooden finish” - something that you don’t see on handsets that cost less than $200 (the retail price of Q1020 is 11,499 INR, meaning about $187). Of course, right now we can't say anything about the new smartphone's build quality, but at least we know that its design makes it stand out.
Wooden edges aside, the handset has mid-range features. Running Android 4.4 KitKat, the Q1020 offers a 5-inch IPS display with 720 x 1280 pixels, 13 MP rear camera with LED flash and Sony Exmor RS sensor, 2 MP front-facing camera, quad-core MediaTek processor clocked at 1.3 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of expandable internal memory, and a 2100 mAh battery.
At the moment, we don’t know if the Xolo Q1020 will be available outside of India.
