New Apple Wireless Keyboard Lands on Apple Online Store

Apple has quietly updated their online store earlier yesterday morning with a new version of the Apple Wireless keyboard, which also features backlit keys. The product description has yet to be updated, though the product image does have indicate dimming and brightening keys on the F5 and 56 keys respectively, as found on Apple\'s notebook line. The keys have had a slight redesign, most notably the eject key being replaced with a power key. Our biggest concern is wether Apple has replaced the scissor mechanism in favor of the butterfly mechanism found in the latest Macbook. Next Keyboard: Possibly the best keyboard ever? [Preview]

Lets face it, third party keyboards on iOS 8 have been everything but perfect. In fact, most of them are full of bugs or simply don’t work. The biggest issue with third party keyboards are the lack of features. One may add a feature but will strip another feature. Well, the folks over at Tiny Hearts are planning to change that with a new keyboard they call Next. The Next Keyboard aims to fix all of the issues the stock keyboard has, as well as master what third party keyboards have lacked. So what does this keyboard offer exactly? Smart Cursor

The stock keyboard sucks when it comes to editing text. You have to tap and hold on the text, use the magnifying class, and adjust the cursor by sliding your finger to the exact position of your text. This can be cumbersome. The Next Keyboard allows you to swipe on the space bar to adjust your cursor. This allows for more precise cursor adjustments. One Tap Emoji/Emoji Suggestions

Apple has their own emoji keyboard and i’s arguably the best stock emoji keyboard out there. But, it’s plain annoying when you have to switch between keyboards just to add an emoji or two. This keyboard has a quick shortcut that allows you to quickly and efficiently choose your emoji. And the best part? You don’t have to switch keyboards. If you’re like me, you have two keyboards max running simultaneously an English keyboard, and the emoji keyboard. The Next keyboard can also detect when you’re trying to use an emoji while normally typing. For example, you could type, “I feel like poop,” and the poop emoji could appear as a suggestion. Alternatively as in the screenshot above, you begin typing "heart" it will appear as well. Swipe to Type Typing on a bigger display can sometimes cause issues, especially when you\'re trying to type with one hand. Swipe to type allows you to type by simply swiping your finger over your keyboard, similar to keyboards like Swype and Flesky. Quick Access

The most frustrating thing I’ve found with third-party keyboards is their inability to switch back to the default QWERTY keyboard after typing punctuation. With Quick Access you’ll be able to hold down on any key, swipe over your punctuation keys, and the keyboard will automatically switch back to the QWERTY keyboard. While this is just a small glimpse, there\'s much more to the keyboard. The Next Keyboard is currently not available to the general public, but the developers are planning a February launch.
