Toyota Rethinks Implementing Apple’s CarPlay
In a piece written on The New York Times, the car manufacturer does not have plans to implement the iPhone-makers CarPlay on any of its vehicles in the United States. Toyota previously said they will be implementing the dashboard replacement throughout the year. John Hanson, the national manager of Toyota’s advanced technology communications, told the New York Times that they talk frequently with Apple. Even though they have no plans on bringing CarPlay to its United States Vehicles, that doesn\'t completely rule out the feature coming in the future. “We may all eventually wind up there, but right now we prefer to use our in-house proprietary platforms for those kinds of functions,” Hanson said. He ruled out implementing Android Auto as well. Though, Hanson hasn\'t commented on the international rollout for either platforms. CarPlay, announced in 2013, works with lightning-enabled iPhones (this includes iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6 and 6 Plus), allowing users to have access to various features via Siri on your cars dashboard.

iOS 8.3 Beta 1 Seeded to Developers

iOS 8.3 Beta 1 Seeded to Developers
Apple has begun seeding the third revision to iOS 8 to its developers on Monday. iOS 8.3 brings the next logical evolution to CarPlay on iOS by having a dedicated button on the automotive mobile. Currently, users who want to use CarPlay are required to plug in their devices via USB. This new beta also allows the user to wirelessly connect. The beta firmware will be available through Apple’s iOS Developer Center.
The software also includes initial support for Apple Pay in China. Partnering up with China UnionPay network, Apple Pay is rumored to launch in the Chinese market later this year. Considering Apple usually seeds iOS betas to developers on Monday or Tuesday, this comes as no surprise. We’re not sure what’s new in the firmware, because we’re downloading the betas ourselves at the moment. If you do notice any changes, please leave a comment below. This release is interesting, as Apple is currently seeding iOS 8.2 beta 5, which brings initial Apple Watch support. Furthermore, the last time the company has gone pass a iOS x.1 release was in iOS 4.
