Reuters: Project Titan Involves Self-Driving Electric Car
Recently Reuters discovered that Apple is working on a self-driving autonomous car. Apple is reportedly actually "exploring how to make an entire vehicle" rather than just designing automotive software as previously suspected. "They don’t appear to want a lot of help from carmakers," says the source who declined to be named told Reuters. The story notes Apple isn\'t interested in engine technology or manufacturing techniques. From there, last September Apple hired Johann Jungwirth, President & CEO, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America, who specialized in integrating smartphone functionality and developing advanced user experiences. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, had reportedly approved this project sometime last year and had put product design Vice President Steve Zadesky in charge. Zadesky, a former ford engineer, has been a long time Apple engineer who helped create the iPod and iPhone. He is said to be leading a team of about 1,000 people at a secret location, far away from Apple\'s main campus.
